The 615 Project
1. Why are you proud to support The Red Cross?
The Red Cross is always there to help people when they most need it after a disaster. The organization makes a real and immediate difference for thousands of people each year, and I think it's important to support those efforts.
2. What is the inspiration for your spring collection?
My spring 2008 collection is all about travel, and about bringing handmade things from faraway places into an urban context. The pieces are also designed to travel well--a lot of them are made in silk jersey, which looks great even if it's been scrunched up in your suitcase for a while.
3. What is your signature evening style for The Red Dress Gala?
I always try to find ways to bring a fun, easygoing sensibility to eveningwear. The dresses I've designed for this event are dramatic and elegant, but they are also easy to wear and hopefully not too serious.
4. What are your favorite evening accessories to accompany your glamorous designs for The Red Dress Gala?
I always accessorize with a killer pair of Jimmy Choos and tribal-influenced jewelry from San Francisco designer Cheryl Freeman (www.fazul.net).
5. What influenced the vision of your Red Dresses?
My vision for these dresses was all about fluidity and movement. I love dresses that look amazing when they're in motion--like when you're making an entrance or hitting the dance floor.
